Veterans Program
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Programadministered by Changing Homelessness
What is the Veterans Program?
The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program is a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) program providing case management and temporary financial aid to very low-income veterans and their families who are experiencing homelessness.
Changing Homelessness was awarded the SSVF Program in 2012. We are responsible for program administration and coordination of services in 64 counties throughout Northeast Florida and Georgia.
Through the SSVF Program, we have served more than 6,000 veteran families in our service areas since the start and we are committed to serving many more.
Who is Eligible for SSVF?
A Veteran Household must meet all of the following criteria to be deemed eligible for the SSVF Program and Services:
- Veteran Status – A Veteran is a person who served at least one day of active duty services in the military, naval, or air service, and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.
- Housing Status – The Veteran Household must demonstrate it is literally homeless or at-risk of homelessness.
- Income Status – For the county the Veteran Household is seeking services in, it must have an annual income at or below the 80% Area Median Income.
