FAQs

If you are a landlord or property manager interested in leasing a unit to a veteran? If yes, please review the most common questions. If you want to learn more, contact our Housing Specialist.

Do you incentivize property professionals?

Yes! We recognize that you are a property professional first and a community investor second. We
structure incentives that you might be eligible for. Our Housing Specialist can talk with you about
eligibility during your first chat.

Once a veteran is determined eligible and enrolled in the Supportive Services Veteran Families Program, we can assist with housing search and identification, housing counseling, budgeting, connection to benefits, and more.

When you work with our Housing Services team, you have the opportunity to help veterans move off the street and into housing.

Can I list my property with you?

Yes! Nearly all housing social workers in Jacksonville access an online portfolio of available units in
Padmission. Update Padmission with your property details regularly at no cost. It’s possible a team
member matches your unit with a veteran the same week and calls you up!

What are the rental benchmarks?

The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program relies on rentometer.com to determine
‘rent reasonableness. If your unit is considered “rent reasonable,” then let us know! The HUD Veterans
Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program uses payment standards based on ZIP code and unit size. As
long as your unit is at or below the payment standard, get in touch with our team!

Can I rent a single room to a veteran experiencing homelessness?

Yes, you can rent only a room to a veteran. This is called shared housing, and it includes the same
expectation that payments made to you are considered reasonable. Each veteran must have their own
lease, pay their rent separately, and rent is based on square footage occupied by the veteran.

What are the property standards?

Our veterans deserve a safe unit and the same features expected by all tenants. Your property likely
meets our requirements, so please look at our Habitability Standards used during pre-inspection.

What if there is a problem?

Our team has years of property management experience and we want to maintain a relationship with
you. A problem with the tenant? Call their case manager immediately. A problem with property or
documents? Call the Housing Specialist immediately. We will get back to you as soon as possible!
